'A married household actually uses resourc= es more efficiently than a divorced household.' Divorced couples use up more space = in their respective homes, which amounts to 38 million more rooms worldwide to light= , heat and cool, the report noted. In 2005 people who were divorced used 23 billio= n kilowatt-hours more of electricity and 627 billion gallons of water than they would otherw= ise have done. Dissolving a marriage also means a doubling up of possessions, from t= he lowly can opener to the sport utility vehicle (SUV). Children from fatherless homes are much more likely to go to prison, be inv= olved in drugs, commit violent crime, commit rape, get sick, have psychological = problems and suffer from compulsive obsessive disorders. It starts 21 years ago, when I was only 6 weeks old, and my maternal grandf= ather was sent by my mother to our home and proceeded to order my father to hand= over all of my clothes and those of my mother. He then informed my father that = he would never see his wife or daughter again. From that day on my mother painted my= father as being the worst man that ever lived. When I was 2 years of age my mother proceeded to get remarried to a wonderf= ul man who would become my main support in the hunt to find my real father. My ste= pfather had informed me from an early age that he wasn't my biological father but t= hat he loved me as if I was his own. At the age of six I began to search for my real Dad. Internet connection sp= eed at that time was 56k so you can imagine the amount of time it took for one pag= e to=20 load. I searched the White Pages for what, to a 6 year old, seemed like a l= ong time and I didn't find him as there were 6-7 pages of my father's surname and I = had no idea of where he lived or even the state or country. My mother started to brainwash me into believing that my father hated me. S= he even went as far as telling me that my father had thrown me on the bed, in an ef= fort=20 to hurt me, that he had called me a money stealer because I needed to have = formula and nappies and that he had tried to kill her and myself by running us over= in the car. These lies continued to the age of ten, when again I tried to look for= my father. This time she showed me a fraudulent death certificate stating that my fath= er died in a train accident in approximately 1993. Still, part of me believed my father was alive and everyday I tried to dedi= cate=20 half an hour a day to finding him, but sadly my efforts weren't successful.= This continued up until my 15th birthday when I finally gave up hope. My though= ts, at the time, were either that his death was real or, if he was still alive, th= at he didn't love me and didn't want to find me. Little did I know that my fathe= r DID love me and that he DID want to find me. I am never going to forget the day I received the letter, via the Salvos & = as the day before I had been fired from work and I was grieving the death of m= y stillborn son and was on the point of suicide. That letter saved my life literally. I= then misplaced the letter, only to rediscover it on my 21st birthday. Finally, = in March 2007, I contacted my Dad. A month later, on ANZAC day, my partner and I were on a plane heading to Me= lbourne to meet my Dad and my family. Yes, I was so petrified, to the point of brea= king=20 my boyfriend's fingers, but boy am I glad that I made the effort of coming = down=20 to Melbourne to meet my family. I fell in love with them. There was no goin= g back from there. That was six months ago. I have now moved to Melbourne and am h= ere for 12 months, maybe longer. All we know is that Baby Gal has come home to her = Daddy Dearest for better or for worse. What I am essentially seeking to convey is that a child will always have a = special part in their heart for YOU, their father, and for you not to give up. Yes,= it might take 21 years, or it could take a couple of months, but there is always hop= e. In countries around the world divor= ce rates have been rising, and each time a family dissolves the result is two new ho= useholds. "A married household actually uses resources more efficiently than a divorc= ed household," said Jianguo Liu, an ecologist at Michigan State University whose analysis = of the environmental impact of divorce appears in this week's online edition of Pr= oceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. More households means more use of land, water and energy, three critical re= sources, Liu explained in a telephone interview. Households with fewer people are simply not as efficient as those with more= people sharing, he explained. A household uses the same amount of heat or air cond= itioning whether there are two or four people living there. A refrigerator used the = same=20 power whether there is one person home or several. Two people living apart = run two dishwashers, instead of just one. Liu, who researches the relationship of ecology with social sciences, said = people seem surprised by his findings at first, and then consider it simple. "A lot of things become simple after the research is done," he said. Some extra energy or water use may not sound like a big deal, but it adds u= p. The United States, for example, had 16.5 million households headed by a div= orced person in 2005 and just over 60 million households headed by a married per= son. Per person, divorced households spent more per person per month for electri= city=20 compared with a married household, as multiple people can be watching the s= ame television, listening to the same radio, cooking on the same stove and or eating under = the same lights. That means some $6.9 billion in extra utility costs per year, Liu calculate= d, plus an added $3.6 billion for water, in addition to other costs such as land us= e. And it isn't just the United States. Liu looked at 11 other countries such as Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Greece, Mexico and South Africa between 1998 and 2002. In the 11, if divorced households had combined to have the same average household size as married households, there could have been a million fewer= households using energy and water in these countries. "People have been talking about how to protect the environment and combat c= limate change, but divorce is an overlooked factor that needs to be considered," L= iu said. Liu stressed that he isn't condemning divorce: "Some people really need to = get divorces." But, he added, "one way to be more environmentally friendly is to live with= other people and that will reduce the impact." Don't get smug, though, married folks savings also apply to people living t= ogether and Shaker communities or even hippie communes would have been even more ef= ficient. So, what prompts someone to figure out the environmental impact of divorce? Liu was studying the ecology of areas with declining population and noticed= that even where the total number of people was less, the number of households w= as increasing. He wondered why. There turned out to be several reasons: divorce, demographic shifts such as= people remaining single longer and the demise of multigenerational households. "I was surprised because the divorce rate actually has been up and down for= many years in some of the countries ... but we found the proportion of divorced= households has increased rapidly across the globe," he said. So he set out to measure the difference, such as in terms of energy and water, land use and construction materials and is now reporting the results= for=20 divorce. The research was funded by the National Science Foundation, the National In= stitutes of Health and the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~= ~~~~~ Special feature Demography and the People Haters By Bill Muehlenberg There have been plenty of false prophets when it comes to doom saying about= overpopulation. In the 1800s British demographer Thomas Malthus got it wrong on this issue,= and=20 since then many have followed suit. In the 1960s there were plenty of false= prophets, most notably Paul Erhlich. He predicted in his 1968 book The Population Bom= b that millions of Americans would die of starvation by the 1980s. Like Malthus before, he got it wrong big time. Indeed, he was so confident = of his gloom and doom scenario that he accepted a wager by economic demographer Ju= lian=20 Simon. Simon asked Ehrlich to select any five metals in 1980, and see if th= ey were more expensive a decade later, being more scarce. Ehrlich avidly agreed, only to have to pay up ten years later for losing th= e bet. Simon knew that population was in fact the answer to environmental problems= , given the nature of innovation and technological development. If one resource bec= omes=20 scarce, alternatives are often developed or found. A free market economy, c= oupled with human ingenuity and creativity, are the best answers to natural resour= ces scarcity. But the doomsayers continue to make their false prophecies, and they contin= ue to demand draconian solutions to the perceived problem. Many of these are act= ually coercive utopians, who in the name of saving the planet will propose some = pretty inhumane and Big Brother-like solutions. I have discussed some of these pre= viously. And it has been an interesting exercise over the years to see how demograph= ic forecasts have needed to be constantly revised. I have been following projected popul= ation peaks for some decades now. I recall when the experts were telling us that= world population would peak at 22 billion. Then they were saying 20 billion. Then= 18,=20 then 15, then 12, then 10. At the moment the experts are saying world popul= ation will peak at 9 billion by 2050, then plateau, and then fall back. According to the most recent UN projection, while the population will hit n= ine billion by mid-century, there is a major population implosion going on in the indus= trial world. The UN predicts that 45 countries will experience significant popul= ation drops during the next 4 decades. For example, it predicts that Japan's pop= ulation will shrink by 20 per cent, going from 127 million people to 100 million. The West is currently experiencing a birth dearth, yet some of the doom and= gloomers still want radical action taken to reduce population levels even further. A= recent column by Angela Shanahan takes up this issue. She begins by noting the abs= ence=20 of large families in Canberra, and the absence of Christmas decorations in = the suburbs: "The limited number of children does not provide an even spread of ages of = offspring from babies to adolescents and young adults. Instead, suburbs such as ours = have=20 mini designer-baby booms, so that one year the preschool is empty and threa= tening to close (this happened two years ago), and then for about five years the p= reschool population will catch up and the childcare centre will be full. Of course i= f any of these children want to stay in the suburb when they grow up, they will = probably find it even harder than the present crop of young couples to do so, and so= the=20 shrinking cycle continues." They have tau= ght boys that they are not to live by the code of chivalry, because that is seen by = women as abuse and that it makes women feel inferior somehow. They have taught b= oys so much rubbish that they are now confused and very angry with females, to the= point of treating women as being second class. This is what the radical feminists= say=20 they are against, but in fact this is precisely what they have created. Whe= n I grew up no boy would swear around a girl, because it was seen as being very crud= e and disrespectful. Now, boys will do anything in front of girls or women. The fault of this lies at the feet of our school system and all the mothers= /women, who have forced their beliefs on their children and husbands! I believe the= se are also some of the issues behind a lot of the divorces as well, where the wif= e is=20 exercising her right to dictate and dominate a man in an Australian family = and if he is not happy with this, then she will get rid of him. The problem with all our schools is that over 80% of the teaching staff is = women. Men are too afraid to go into jobs today where children are involved for fe= ar of being set up and ending up in gaol or something like that. Most men are aw= are that they are considered as abusers of women and children; that women are consid= ered=20 to be victims who are incapable of abusing anyone. So, it is very easy to s= et up a man today and have his reputation destroyed even if he is totally innoce= nt. I found the script lukewarm and the actors unconvincing, particularly the s= ingle mum. I've since read a 2002 article that explains that the why of the script was= because someone complained that a child actor said, 'you gotta have a dad.' Of cour= se these days you don't actually gotta have a dad that was the script writer's mista= ke. As long as you've got invitro programs and sperm banks men can be indirectly u= seful but dads are an unnecessary drain on the economy. That writer underestimat= ed today's climate of single mothers and same gender parents. Ironically there seems t= o be=20 more support in our community for them than for us. When the family courts = speak of putting the child's needs first, they mean financial needs. Should the = message have been - no one should keep children from their dads? Radio advertisements make men out to be either lazy or fools. I wrote compl= aining letters to a local television station. Every day I'd have to listen to one = of the two women presenters make male put downs in the presence of their male co h= osts. That ignored the fact that half the audience would have been men. I must h= ave made some impact, because what happened next was that the male co hosts had to a= nticipate the put down and make it themselves. How nasty is that? I then wrote in aga= in and said that people needed to run their comments through the sexist filter fir= st and substitute man for women. If they felt women on the show and in the audienc= e were going to be offended, then it was sexist. I haven't noticed a sexist commen= t since then, but it's only been a couple of weeks. How do you get hold of the ASB? I'd like to start a campaign of complaints about radio advertisements. You = might wonder what this has to do with fathers, but I've watched this disrespect = towards men is become the acceptable norm. Even if it's being done subliminally, pe= ople=20 (men and women) are actually coming to believe the stereotypes as presented= by commentators and by advertisements. That's why, despite the fact that these days many me= n play a huge role in their children's lives and upbringing, when it comes to the = family courts, judges keep on refusing to accept that men are equally capable of n= urturing their kids or being an important part of their children's lives. Unless you= are=20 firm about changing stereotypical perceptions I don't think you can expect = attitudes towards fathers to change any time soon. If you are like me you have been watching = the kerfuffle surrounding Climate Change with a certain level of amusement.= In my mind 'climate change' has become the new religion of fashion and any= one who has the temerity to question the so-called 'facts' is regarded as s= ome kind of 'kook' or demonized whacko. If that is the case, then there are= a lot of PhDs and professors who must be idiots in disguise.

 

Professor Bjarne Andresen from the U= niversity of Copenhagen, in collaboration with professors in Canada, has an= alysed the topic and come to the conclusion that the idea of a 'global temp= erature' and global warming is more political than scientific. Professor An= dresen is an expert in thermodynamics

 

Henrik Svensmark, a weather scientis= t at the Danish National Space Centre says that the current problems are at= tributed more to cosmic rays than green house gases. "It was long thought t= hat clouds were caused by climate change, but now we see that climate change is driven by clouds".

 

They say that money talks. If that i= s the case, then two Russian Solar physicists must be shouting. Climate cha= nge sceptics Galina Mashnich and Vladmimir Bashkirtsev   have put their money where their mouth is = and bet   $10,000 that t= he planet will cool over the ne= xt decade.     

 

Professor Bjorn Lomborg, who accordi= ng to Time Magazine 2004, is one of the world's 100 most influential people= , argues that although global warming is real, there is little we can do to= prevent it, and that we would be better off trying to adapt to living in a= n altered climate. Prof Lomborg has set out his arguments in his recently r= eleased book, September 2007, called 'Cool It - The Sceptical Environmental= ists Guide to Global Warming' www.lomborg.com=

 

Many so called environmentalists tur= n into avid people haters and use their doom and gloom prophecies to justif= y the murder of innocent children through abortion and other anti-family po= licies. The myth of the population explosion is well documented in Bill Mue= hlenberg's excellent article 'Demography and the People H= aters' also found in our Special Feature this week.  The real answers to our planet's probl= ems are found in a renewal of love within our families and a rejection of o= ur obsessive western materialism.

Jianguo Liu, an ecologist at Michigan State Uni= versity, USA, has done a comprehensive study on the environmental impact of= divorce. 'A married household actually uses resources more efficiently tha= n a divorced household.' Divorced couples use up more space in their respec= tive homes, which amounts to 38 million more rooms worldwide to light, heat= and cool, the report noted. In 2005 people who were divorced used 23 billi= on kilowatt-hours more of electricity and 627 billion gallons of water than= they would otherwise have done. Dissolving a marriage also means a doublin= g up of possessions, from the lowly can opener to the sport utility vehicle= (SUV).

 

Children from fatherless homes are m= uch more likely to go to prison, be involved in drugs, commit violent crime= , commit rape, get sick, have psychological problems and suffer from compul= sive obsessive disorders. Treating the symptoms of fatherlessness is a real= energy drain. The mindless acquisition of more possessions is often a comp= ensation for the father wound.

 

Children with an involved, responsib= le and loving father and mother who teach their children the fallacy of ram= pant materialism are much less likely to waste the planet's precious resour= ces.

 

As Mother Teresa said, "World peace = starts in the home." If I can be excused for parodying her words, 'Saving t= he planet starts in the home.'

Go for Gold for your children! Love = them and affirm them as world changers. Teach them to be content with what = they have and not be greedy. Love your wife and don't become another divorc= e statistic. Caring for the planet begins when we care for those around us.= True environmentalism is a state of the heart and not a politically-correc= t slogan. Jesus said, 'a man's life does not consist in the abundance of hi= s possessions.' As Sting sings, 'Let your heart guide you', for, as the pro= verb says, 'out of your heart flow the issues of life'.

My name is Jayne and this is my brief story, from a chil= d's point of view, regarding a child's separation and the loss of a loving = father.

 

It starts 21 years ago, when I was only 6 weeks old, and= my maternal grandfather was sent by my mother to our home and proceeded to= order my father to hand over all of my clothes and those of my mother. He = then informed my father that he would never see his wife or daughter again.= From that day on my mother painted my father as being the worst man that e= ver lived.

 

When I was 2 years of age my mother proceeded to get rem= arried to a wonderful man who would become my main support in the hunt to f= ind my real father. My stepfather had informed me from an early age that he= wasn't my biological father but that he loved me as if I was his own.

 

At the age of six I began to search for my real Dad. Int= ernet connection speed at that time was 56k so you can imagine the amount o= f time it took for one page to load. I searched the White Pages for what, t= o a 6 year old, seemed like a long time and I didn't find him as there were= 6-7 pages of my father's surname and I had no idea of where he lived or ev= en the state or country.

 

My mother started to brainwash me into believing that my= father hated me. She even went as far as telling me that my father had thr= own me on the bed, in an effort to hurt me, that he had called me a money s= tealer because I needed to have formula and nappies and that he had tried t= o kill her and myself by running us over in the car. These lies continued t= o the age of ten, when again I tried to look for my father. This time she s= howed me a fraudulent death certificate stating that my father died in a tr= ain accident in approximately 1993.

 

Still, part of me believed my father was alive and every= day I tried to dedicate half an hour a day to finding him, but sadly my eff= orts weren't successful. This continued up until my 15th birthday when I fi= nally gave up hope. My thoughts, at the time, were either that his death wa= s real or, if he was still alive, that he didn't love me and didn't want to= find me. Little did I know that my father DID love me and that he DID want= to find me.

 

I am never going to forget the day I received the letter= , via the Salvos & as the day before I had been fired from work and I was g= rieving the death of my stillborn son and was on the point of suicide. That= letter saved my life literally. I then misplaced the letter, only to redis= cover it on my 21st birthday. Finally, in March 2007, I contacted my Dad. <= /font>

 

A month later, on ANZAC day, my partner and I were on a = plane heading to Melbourne to meet my Dad and my family. Yes, I was so petr= ified, to the point of breaking my boyfriend's fingers, but boy am I glad t= hat I made the effort of coming down to Melbourne to meet my family. I fell= in love with them. There was no going back from there. That was six months= ago. I have now moved to Melbourne and am here for 12 months, maybe longer= . All we know is that Baby Gal has come home to her Daddy Dearest for bette= r or for worse.

 

What I am essentially seeking to convey is that a child = will always have a special part in their heart for YOU, their father, and f= or you not to give up. Yes, it might take 21 years, or it could take a coup= le of months, but there is always hope.

 

I dedicate this letter to all the fathers who have lost = their children, but most of all to the man that didn't give up for 21 years= , the man who I call My Daddy Dearest and my Best Friend. Thank you Daddy D= earest. I love you; please don't forget that.

Mother Nature Feels the= Pains of Divorce

Divorce can be bad for the environment. In countries aro= und the world divorce rates have been rising, and each time a family dissol= ves the result is two new households.

 

"A married household actually uses resources more effici= ently than a divorced household," said Jianguo Liu, an ecologist at Michiga= n State University whose analysis of the environmental impact of divorce ap= pears in this week's online edition of Proceedings of the National Academy = of Sciences.

 

More households means more use of land, water and energy= , three critical resources, Liu explained in a telephone interview.<= /span>

 

Households with fewer people are simply not as efficient= as those with more people sharing, he explained. A household uses the same= amount of heat or air conditioning whether there are two or four people li= ving there. A refrigerator used the same power whether there is one person = home or several. Two people living apart run two dishwashers, instead of ju= st one.

 

Liu, who researches the relationship of ecology with soc= ial sciences, said people seem surprised by his findings at first, and then= consider it simple.

"A lot of things become simple after the research is don= e," he said.

 

Some extra energy or water use may not sound like a big = deal, but it adds up.

 

The United States, for example, had 16.5 million househo= lds headed by a divorced person in 2005 and just over 60 million households= headed by a married person.

 

Per person, divorced households spent more per person pe= r month for electricity compared with a married household, as multiple peop= le can be watching the same television, listening to the same radio, cookin= g on the same stove and or eating under the same lights.

 

That means some $6.9 billion in extra utility costs per = year, Liu calculated, plus an added $3.6 billion for water, in addition to = other costs such as land use.

 

And it isn't just the United States.

 

Liu looked at 11 other countries such as Brazil, Costa R= ica, Ecuador,

Greece, Mexi= co and South Africa between 1998 and 2002.

 

In the 11, if divorced households had combined to have t= he same average

household size as married households, there could have b= een a million fewer households using energy and water in these countries.

 

"People have been talking about how to protect the envir= onment and combat climate change, but divorce is an overlooked factor that = needs to be considered," Liu said.

 

Liu stressed that he isn't condemning divorce: "Some peo= ple really need to get divorces." But, he added, "one way to be more enviro= nmentally friendly is to live with other people and that will reduce the im= pact."

 

Don't get smug, though, married folks savings also apply= to people living together and Shaker communities or even hippie communes w= ould have been even more efficient.

 

So, what prompts someone to figure out the environmental= impact of divorce?

 

Liu was studying the ecology of areas with declining pop= ulation and noticed that even where the total number of people was less, th= e number of households was increasing. He wondered why.

 

There turned out to be several reasons: divorce, demogra= phic shifts such as people remaining single longer and the demise of multig= enerational households.

 

"I was surprised because the divorce rate actually has b= een up and down for many years in some of the countries ... but we found th= e proportion of divorced households has increased rapidly across the globe,= " he said.

 

So he set out to measure the difference, such as in term= s of energy and

water, land use and construction materials and is now re= porting the results for divorce.

 

The research was funded by the National Science Foundati= on, the National Institutes of Health and the Michigan Agricultural Experim= ent Station.

Demography and the People Hater= s

There have been plenty of false prophets when it comes t= o doom saying about overpopulation. In the 1800s British demographer Thomas= Malthus got it wrong on this issue, and since then many have followed suit= . In the 1960s there were plenty of false prophets, most notably Paul Erhli= ch. He predicted in his 1968 book The Population Bomb that millions of Amer= icans would die of starvation by the 1980s.

 

Like Malthus before, he got it wrong big time. Indeed, h= e was so confident of his gloom and doom scenario that he accepted a wager = by economic demographer Julian Simon. Simon asked Ehrlich to select any fiv= e metals in 1980, and see if they were more expensive a decade later, being= more scarce.

Ehrlich avidly agreed, only to have to pay up ten years = later for losing the bet. Simon knew that population was in fact the answer= to environmental problems, given the nature of innovation and technologica= l development. If one resource becomes scarce, alternatives are often devel= oped or found. A free market economy, coupled with human ingenuity and crea= tivity, are the best answers to natural resources scarcity.3D"Robots"

But the doomsayers continue to make their false propheci= es, and they continue to demand draconian solutions to the perceived proble= m. Many of these are actually coercive utopians, who in the name of saving = the planet will propose some pretty inhumane and Big Brother-like solutions= . I have discussed some of these previously.

And it has been an interesting exercise over the years t= o see how demographic forecasts have needed to be constantly revised. I hav= e been following projected population peaks for some decades now. I recall = when the experts were telling us that world population would peak at 22 bil= lion. Then they were saying 20 billion. Then 18, then 15, then 12, then 10.= At the moment the experts are saying world population will peak at 9 billi= on by 2050, then plateau, and then fall back.

According to the most recent UN projection, while the po= pulation will hit nine billion by mid-century, there is a major population = implosion going on in the industrial world. The UN predicts that 45 countri= es will experience significant population drops during the next 4 decades. = For example, it predicts that Japan's population will shrink by 20 per cent= , going from 127 million people to 100 million.

 

The West is currently experiencing a birth= dearth, yet some of the doom and gloomers still want radical action taken = to reduce population levels even further. A recent column by Angela Shanaha= n takes up this issue. She begins by noting the absence of large families i= n Canberra, and the absence of Christmas decorations in the suburbs:

"The limited number of children does not provide an even= spread of ages of offspring from babies to adolescents and young adults. I= nstead, suburbs such as ours have mini designer-baby booms, so that one yea= r the preschool is empty and threatening to close (this happened two years = ago), and then for about five years the preschool population will catch up = and the childcare centre will be full. Of course if any of these children w= ant to stay in the suburb when they grow up, they will probably find it eve= n harder than the present crop of young couples to do so, and so the shrink= ing cycle continues."

She continues, "This mini baby boom phenomenon and the c= offin-shaped demographic pattern it reflects has been followed in the count= ry as a whole, and of course in the entire Western world. But then there ar= e those people who would say the Christmas lights that families like us put= up, in using electricity, increase the carbon footprints of our already ye= ti-sized familial tracks. What with our people movers and four-wheel-drives= and air-conditioning and pool pumps, blah blah blah, we should not be expa= nding. In fact the Government should tax our children and penalise us for t= he babies we have because they consume resources."

"This is not just one gynecologist in Western Australia = pushing this line, as happened recently; this is phase two of global warmin= g brainwashing. A couple of months ago I predicted that the anti-population= linking to global warming would get stronger. Did you not notice that all = the questions from the audience after the ABC showed The Great Global Warmi= ng Swindle earlier this year were about population control? This is the res= urrection of one of the most discredited movements of modern times: the zer= o population growth movement."

 

"These fanatics have fostered the persistent delusion th= at overpopulation is a problem and many people still believe it. But they a= re not content with having their simplistic Malthusian logic proved wrong s= o that 30 years down the track we cannot replace our population in the West= , a situation that threatens the social and economic stability of the devel= oped world. The old 1960s ZPG-ers are reinventing themselves under the ausp= ices of the climate movement. Some think tanks, notably the Australia Insti= tute, are pushing this line, referring to population as the "elephant in th= e living room" of the environment debate."

However, the idea that large families are somehow to bla= me for global warming and other environmental problems is simply incorrect.= "But there is sound empirical evidence to the contrary. The large family l= iving on a suburban block is the most efficient consumer of energy. The mor= e people in a household, the less per head they consume. The research has b= een done in Sydney by the City Futures Research Centre. They looked at the = implications of behaviour in different household types that are usually ove= rlooked in the energy debate: smaller households living in denser housing, = particularly high-rise flats, are less energy-efficient than the biggest ho= usehold type, the family living in the least dense housing type, the single= dwelling suburban house block. Theirs is the most energy-efficient househo= ld because it is the most efficient social grouping."

Shanahan concludes, "But if you want to find somewhere w= here there is an even spread of ages and the population looks pyramid-shape= d, as it should in a healthy demographic, go to Sydney's southwest. There y= ou will see hundreds of young people on the street, driving around in cars = with music blaring, meeting friends on the footpath, shopping, going about = their business. You will see young families with many children doing all th= e things that families do. Many of them are Muslims who have a birthrate fo= ur times the average in Australia, so they may not all have Christmas light= s, but so what? Get used to it."

Indeed. 

 

The Muslims are one of the few groups who = are not hung up about the gloom and doom forecasters. They are being fruitf= ul and multiplying, while the rest of us in the West are slowly disappearin= g. Thus demographics alone may mean an Islamised West sometime in the futur= e.

 

There is nothing wrong with being environmentally friend= ly, and doing our bit to save the planet. But for many of the Green crusade= rs, their idea of saving the planet means culling humans. That hysteria mus= t be resisted. The coercive utopians have tried before to implement their u= gly ideas. Recent history is replete with such attempts. And it has not bee= n a pretty sight.

I have contacted your site after seeing an ad on SBS.

 

As a childfree middle aged person I am very concerned about popul= ation growth, the environment and resource depletion, including peak oil, I= lead a low energy and environment impact lifestyle.

 

I am very tired of having "family" and "fatherhood" being shoved = down my throat 24/7. I'm sick of being bombarded with messages that unless = I do this thing that rabbits can also do then I can't be a normal valuable = human being. I am very tired of politicians using the trigger word "family"= in every sentence.

 

This atmosphere of societal hegemony is stifling and oppressive.<= /font>

 

Your foundation would do better work if it encouraged FEWER peopl= e to start families. Those who chose to start families as a result, instead= of simply following societal precepts blindly would, on average, be better= parents, than the average Joe who simply does not want to be seen to have = 2 heads. The pressure for conformity does damage. We have so many divorces = because so many people get married in the first instance.

 

We have so much child abuse because so many people have children = in the first instance.

 

I mentioned that I am worried about the environment. I will not s= pend too much time outlining our environmental problem but I will just leav= e you with a few things to think about.

 

Every child born will grow up wanting a car, and a house with a g= arden out in the burbs and he/she will greatly contribute to greenhouse war= ming as well as bankrolling fire trap sweat shops in the third world.

 

The business-as-usual approach is to posit "environmentally frien= dly nappies, more water efficient appliances, shower heads and garden types= , hybrid cars and more energy efficient homes. The simple reality is that n= o car is as energy efficient as the car that is never built and no house is= as energy efficient as the house that is never built.

 

Viewed this way there is no way that childfree people can be call= ed "selfish". In fact the boot is on the other foot.

I felt the need to comment on your story this week with regard bo= ys growing up playing fighting games etc.

 

This is such a normal part of their make-up that I have found mys= elf on many occasions shaking my head at all the idiots out there who think= that these boys have been indoctrinated with violence and will eventually = kill when they get older.

 

I am 50 years of age and we never had video games or graphic movi= es with all the blood and gore effects.&n= bsp; All we had were cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians, who got = shot with no blood seen and often they never died.  In fact they were all bullet proof, because it usual= ly took about a hundred shots in their direction to get them to fall off th= eir horses.

 

We made up bows and arrows and played with guns.  And I have not heard of anyone I grew up wit= h tuning into a gun wielding thug who has shot anyone.  In fact, none of my peer group dared join the ar= med forces, for fear of actually being sent to fight in the real world.

 

We have this evil radical feminist influence in just about = every western nation; most especially here in Australia, that seeks to emot= ionally and psychologically castrate every boy that is born. 

=B7    &nbs= p;  They are all taught girlie stuff in the schools and reprima= nded for being a natural boy.

=B7    &nbs= p;  They are made to play with girlie type games: the boys are = allowed to play tame boys games that girls can join in with, but not anythi= ng that leads to others being shot or blown up with small nuclear devices.<= span style=3D"mso-spacerun: yes">  The boys are not allowed to = drive Leopard Tanks in the back yard, or fly an FA-18 Hornet through the ho= use firing missiles at their family or the television.  No, that is seen as too violent!

=B7    &nbs= p;  Our boys are told to respect girls, but to never assume a g= irl needs them for anything at all.

=B7    &nbs= p;  Our boys are being de-humanised by this whole system and be= ing turned into semi-eunuch type drones for the future use of females.

 

Then on television we see current affair programs showing set-up = situations where a pregnant reporter goes on public transport to see if any= one will stand up to let them sit down.&n= bsp; This is actually aimed at men and boys.

 

They find that almost no one will stand up to let them sit.

 

What can they expect; they have taught boys to be like women.  They have taught boys that they= are not to live by the code of chivalry, because that is seen by women as = abuse and that it makes women feel inferior somehow.  They have taught boys so much rubbish that they ar= e now confused and very angry with females, to the point of treating women = as being second class.  This = is what the radical feminists say they are against, but in fact this is pre= cisely what they have created.  When I grew up no boy would swear around a girl, because it was seen as = being very crude and disrespectful. = Now, boys will do anything in front of girls or women.

 

The fault of this lies at the feet of our school system and all t= he mothers/women, who have forced their beliefs on their children and husba= nds!  I believe these are als= o some of the issues behind a lot of the divorces as well, where the wife i= s exercising her right to dictate and dominate a man in an Australian famil= y and if he is not happy with this, then she will get rid of him.

 

The problem with all our schools is that over 80% of the teaching= staff is women.  Men are too= afraid to go into jobs today where children are involved for fear of being= set up and ending up in gaol or something like that.  Most men are aware that they are considered as ab= users of women and children; that women are considered to be victims who ar= e incapable of abusing anyone.  So, it is very easy to set up a man today and have his reputation destro= yed even if he is totally innocent.

 

Men just do not want to be forced to teach this feminist vomit to= children especially boys, because they know this is only de-programming th= e boys so they can be re-programmed into a worker-drone for the use of fema= les in the future.

 

What sickens me the most, is the fact that they (and I do mean go= vernments but especially the vast majority of women in society) then dress = the boys up in khaki and hand them the toys they were never allowed to play= with, but this time they are real. = Then they send them off to play games with others somewhere else in= the world, but this time when they fire their toy guns, pieces of flesh ge= t blown away from the faces or bodies of the person they shoot at and then = that person dies.

 

I am so aggrieved that the vast majority of women (yes the Mrs. A= verages) in Australia, all agree with this feminist propaganda and try thei= r hardest to de-program boys.  However, when the boys grow up the same women; be they mothers, sisters, = wives or daughters, all expect this man to stand in front of them to protec= t them.  They all expect the = man to drop everything and run to the aid of a woman when she is being atta= cked by another person (man or woman) and rescue this female; completely pu= tting their own lives at risk.

 

But the problem with that is the men of today have no idea what i= t is like to engage physically with another male.  They were not allowed to wrestle with other boys; bec= ause Mummy was scared they would grow up violent.

 

Please don't get me wrong, I am not a woman hater; a lot of my cl= osest friends are women!

 

But, because governments have allowed radical feminists the oppor= tunity to infiltrate government agencies and influence policy and legislati= on, and allowed them to publicly speak the language that is attractive to a= ll women, we have suffered this country being subsequently run by women and= turned into a society of de-programmed men and boys.

 

How can a man be strong and know what to do when violence or war = actually knocks on his door uninvited, if he is not allowed to practice whe= n he is young and developing his sense of manhood?

 

All that is happening to boys in Australia today is sheer bloody = minded CHILD ABUSE!!!!

Dear Fatherhood Foundation

 

I've watched your adverts a couple of times and was planning to h= ave a big complain because what I'm seeing is begging ads: "Please like me,= I know I'm a mere male but if you give me a chance I think I could be usef= ul in my child's life". It's as if gender roles have reversed - men have be= come timid and women strong and assertive. I found the script lukewarm and = the actors unconvincing, particularly the single mum.

 

I've since read a 2002 article that explains that the why o= f the script was because someone complained that a child actor said, 'you g= otta have a dad.' Of course these days you don't actually gotta have a dad = that was the script writer's mistake. As long as you've got invitro program= s and sperm banks men can be indirectly useful but dads are an unnecessary = drain on the economy. That writer underestimated today's climate of single = mothers and same gender parents. Ironically there seems to be more support = in our community for them than for us. When the family courts speak of putt= ing the child's needs first, they mean financial needs. Should the message = have been - no one should keep children from their dads? 

 

Radio advertisements make men out to be either lazy or fools. I w= rote complaining letters to a local television station. Every day I'd have = to listen to one of the two women presenters make male put downs in the pre= sence of their male co hosts. That ignored the fact that half the audience = would have been men. I must have made some impact, because what happened ne= xt was that the male co hosts had to anticipate the put down and make it th= emselves. How nasty is that? I then wrote in again and said that people nee= ded to run their comments through the sexist filter first and substitute ma= n for women. If they felt women on the show and in the audience were going = to be offended, then it was sexist. I haven't noticed a sexist comment sinc= e then, but it's only been a couple of weeks. How do you get hold of the AS= B?

 

I'd like to start a campaign of complaints about radio advertisem= ents. You might wonder what this has to do with fathers, but I've watched t= his disrespect towards men is become the acceptable norm. Even if it's bein= g done subliminally, people (men and women) are actually coming to believe = the stereotypes as presented by commentators and by advertisements. That's = why, despite the fact that these days many men play a huge role in their ch= ildren's lives and upbringing, when it comes to the family courts, judges k= eep on refusing to accept that men are equally capable of nurturing their k= ids or being an important part of their children's lives. Unless you are fi= rm about changing stereotypical perceptions I don't think you can expect at= titudes towards fathers to change any time soon.

 

As I've said, single mums and single gender parents are today's r= eality. The dads need to not ignore this, but to be as assertive as the lat= ter two, about their own rights and their own place in their children's liv= es.
